# Jacob Tomlin

**Jacob Tomlin** (1793 — 1880) was a [Protestant](/source/Protestant) [Christian](/source/Christians) missionary who served with the [London Missionary Society](/source/London_Missionary_Society) during the late [Qing Dynasty](/source/Qing_Dynasty) in [China](/source/China). Tomlin and [Karl Gutzlaff](/source/Karl_Gutzlaff) were the first Protestant missionaries to reside in Thailand, arriving in 1828.
