==Life==
He attended the common schools in New York City. Then he became a [cigar maker](/source/cigar_maker), and later an [auctioneer](/source/auctioneer). He was a lieutenant in the 6th Regiment of the National Guard. He was at times an Inspector of Lamps and Gas; a clerk in the County Clerk's office; and Warrant Clerk in the Finance Department.

He was a member of the [New York State Assembly](/source/New_York_State_Assembly) (New York Co., 8th D.) in [1865](/source/88th_New_York_State_Legislature) and [1866](/source/89th_New_York_State_Legislature). Afterwards, he was a deputy sheriff.

He was again a member of the State Assembly (New York Co., 6th D.) in [1878](/source/101st_New_York_State_Legislature) and [1879](/source/102nd_New_York_State_Legislature); and a member of the [New York State Senate](/source/New_York_State_Senate) (6th D.) in [1880](/source/103rd_New_York_State_Legislature) and [1881](/source/104th_New_York_State_Legislature).

He died at his home at 393 [Pleasant Avenue](/source/Pleasant_Avenue) in [East Harlem](/source/East_Harlem).
