# Jacob S. Freer

**Jacob S. Freer** (January 22, 1824 in [Marbletown](/source/Marbletown,_New_York), [Ulster County, New York](/source/Ulster_County,_New_York) – January 27, 1892) was an American physician and politician from [New York](/source/New_York_(state)).

## Life

He graduated from [Geneva Medical College](/source/Geneva_Medical_College) in 1846, and commenced the practice of medicine in [Bloomingburg](/source/Bloomingburg,_New_York). Two years later he removed to [Ellenville](/source/Ellenville,_New_York). He married Sarah J. Jackson (1828–1912), and they had several children.

He was a member of the [New York State Assembly](/source/New_York_State_Assembly) (Ulster Co., 1st D.) in [1852](/source/75th_New_York_State_Legislature); and of the [New York State Senate](/source/New_York_State_Senate) (10th D.) in [1862](/source/85th_New_York_State_Legislature) and [1863](/source/86th_New_York_State_Legislature).

He was buried at the Fantinekill Cemetery in Ellenville.
