# Jack Corrin

**John William Corrin** (6 January 1932[1] – 6 April 2019) was a [First Deemster](/source/Deemster) of the [Isle of Man](/source/Isle_of_Man).[2][3]

## Biography

He was educated at [King William's College](/source/King_William's_College). He was called to the Manx bar in 1954. He rose to Senior Partner at [Dickinson Cruickshank & Co](/source/Dickinson_Cruickshank_%26_Co).

He served as [Attorney General](/source/Attorney_General_(Isle_of_Man)) and Member of the [Legislative Council of the Isle of Man](/source/Legislative_Council_of_the_Isle_of_Man) from 1974 to 1980, when he became Second Deemster. He succeeded as First Deemster and Clerk of the Roles in 1988, serving until 1998.

He was appointed a [Commander of the Order of the British Empire](/source/Order_of_the_British_Empire) in the [1995 Birthday Honours](/source/1995_Birthday_Honours).[4]

In 1998, he was elected a [Freeman](/source/Freedom_of_the_City) of the [Borough of Douglas](/source/Douglas,_Isle_of_Man).

He died on 6 April 2019 at the age of 87.[5]
