**Ives Bank** ([67°40′S 68°12′W / 67.667°S 68.200°W / -67.667; -68.200](https://geohack.toolforge.org/geohack.php?pagename=Ives_Bank&params=67_40_S_68_12_W_)) is a [submarine bank](/source/Submarine_bank) with a least depth of 11 metres (6 fathoms) in the [Bellingshausen Sea](/source/Bellingshausen_Sea). It is located in the southern approaches to [Ryder Bay](/source/Ryder_Bay), [Adelaide Island](/source/Adelaide_Island), Antarctica, 1 mile (1.6 km) south of the [Mikkelsen Islands](/source/Mikkelsen_Islands). It was named by the [UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee](/source/UK_Antarctic_Place-Names_Committee) after Lieutenant Commander [David M. Ives](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=David_M._Ives&action=edit&redlink=1), [Royal Navy](/source/Royal_Navy), who surveyed this bank from [HMS *Endurance*](/source/HMS_Endurance_(1967)) in March 1981.[1]
