# Issam Merdassi

**Issam Merdassi** (Arabic: عصام المرداسي, born 16 March 1981) is a [Tunisian](/source/Tunisia) [footballer](/source/Football_(soccer)).

Merdassi played until 2006 for [CS Sfaxien](/source/CS_Sfaxien) then went on loan to Saudi [Al-Nassr](/source/Al_Nassr_FC) before returning to [CS Sfaxien](/source/CS_Sfaxien) for one season 2008–2009 and finally he was transferred to [BSC Young Boys](/source/BSC_Young_Boys) in summer 2009.[1]

He was a member of the [Tunisian](/source/Tunisia_national_football_team) [2004 Olympic](/source/2004_Summer_Olympics) football team, who exited in the first round, finishing third in group C, behind group and gold medal winners [Argentina](/source/Argentina) and runners-up [Australia](/source/Australia).[2]

After managing [Sfax Railways Sports](/source/Sfax_Railways_Sports), he was appointed manager of [AS Rejiche](/source/AS_Rejiche) in 2021.[3]
