# Isocarpha

***Isocarpha*** (**pearlhead**)[2] is a genus of flowering plants in the family [Asteraceae](/source/Asteraceae).[3][4][5] They are native to [Mexico](/source/Mexico), [Central America](/source/Central_America), the [West Indies](/source/West_Indies), and northern [South America](/source/South_America), with the range of one species extending north into the [United States](/source/United_States).[6][7][8][9]

## Classification

Although it is generally assigned to the tribe [Eupatorieae](/source/Eupatorieae), the flowers are unusual for that tribe. It is believed to have evolved from an ancestor which more closely resembles other Eupatorieae.[6]
