**Ismail Sulaiman Ashoor Al-Ajmi** ([Arabic](/source/Arabic_language): إِسْمَاعِيل سُلَيْمَان عَاشُور الْعَجَمِيّ; born 9 June 1984), commonly known as **Ismail Al-Ajmi**, is an [Omani](/source/Oman) [footballer](/source/Association_football) who plays for [Al-Nahda Club](/source/Al-Nahda_Club_(Oman)) in [Oman Professional League](/source/Oman_Professional_League).[1]

## Club career

### Muscat

In the [2005–06 Omani League](/source/2005%E2%80%9306_Omani_League), Ismail was given the 'Top Scorer' award for a total of 12 goals and hence helping his club to win the overall Championship.

### Kuwait

Ismail's most valuable goal for [Kuwait SC](/source/Kuwait_SC) came in the [Final](/source/2009_AFC_Cup_Final) of [the 2009 AFC Cup](/source/2009_AFC_Cup). The goal was scored seconds before the referee's whistle. This goal meant that is the Champion of the [AFC Cup of 2009](/source/AFC_Cup).

### Saham

On 25 September 2014, he signed a one-year contract with [2014 GCC Champions League](/source/2014_GCC_Champions_League) runners-up [Saham SC](/source/Saham_SC).[2][3][4][5]

### Al-Nahda

On 28 January 2015, he signed a six-month contract with [2014–15 Oman Professional League](/source/2014%E2%80%9315_Oman_Professional_League) champions, [Al-Nahda Club](/source/Al-Nahda_Club_(Oman)).[6]

### AFC Asian Cup

Ismail has made appearances in the [2007 AFC Asian Cup qualification](/source/2007_AFC_Asian_Cup_qualification), the [2007 AFC Asian Cup](/source/2007_AFC_Asian_Cup), the [2011 AFC Asian Cup qualification](/source/2011_AFC_Asian_Cup_qualification) and the [2015 AFC Asian Cup qualification](/source/2015_AFC_Asian_Cup_qualification).

In the [2007 AFC Asian Cup qualification](/source/2007_AFC_Asian_Cup_qualification),[7] he scored four goals, a goal in a 3-0 win over [Jordan](/source/Jordan_national_football_team),[8] a goal in a 4-1 win over [Pakistan](/source/Pakistan_national_football_team),[9] a goal in the return leg in a 5-0 win over [Pakistan](/source/Pakistan_national_football_team)[10] and another in a 2-1 win over the [United Arab Emirates](/source/United_Arab_Emirates_national_football_team)[11] hence helping his team to qualify for the [2007 AFC Asian Cup](/source/2007_AFC_Asian_Cup). [Badar Al-Maimani](/source/Badar_Al-Maimani) scored one and the only goal of Oman in the [2007 AFC Asian Cup](/source/2007_AFC_Asian_Cup) in a 1-1 draw against [Australia](/source/Australia_men's_national_soccer_team).[12] In the tournament, Oman won two points in a 1-1 draw against [Australia](/source/Australia_men's_national_soccer_team) and in a 0-0 draw against [Iraq](/source/Iraq_national_football_team)[13] and hence failed to qualify for the quarter-finals.[14]

In the [2011 AFC Asian Cup qualification](/source/2011_AFC_Asian_Cup_qualification), he played in six matches and scored one goal in a 2-1 win over [Indonesia](/source/Indonesia_national_football_team).[15] But Oman failed to qualify for the [2011 AFC Asian Cup](/source/2011_AFC_Asian_Cup).[16]

He made four appearances in the [2015 AFC Asian Cup qualification](/source/2015_AFC_Asian_Cup_qualification) but failed to score a single goal. He again helped his team to qualify for the [2015 AFC Asian Cup](/source/2015_AFC_Asian_Cup) by finishing at the top of the Group A.[17]

He scored two goals in the [2010 FIFA World Cup qualification](/source/2010_FIFA_World_Cup_qualification_(AFC)), one in a 1-0 win over [Thailand](/source/Thailand_national_football_team)[18] and another in a 1-1 draw against [Bahrain](/source/Bahrain_national_football_team).[19]

He scored two goals in the [2014 FIFA World Cup qualification](/source/2014_FIFA_World_Cup_qualification_(AFC)), one in the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualification – AFC second round|second round of FIFA World Cup qualification]] in a 2-0 win over [Myanmar](/source/Myanmar_national_football_team)[20] and another in the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualification – AFC fourth round|fourth round of FIFA World Cup qualification]] in a 1-0 win over [Iraq](/source/Iraq_national_football_team).[21] Oman entered the last game of group play with a chance to qualify for at least the playoff-round, but a 1-0 loss to Jordan eliminated them from contention.[22]
