# Isabelle Valentin

**Isabelle Valentin** (izabɛl valɑ̃tɛ̃; born 20 January 1962)[1] is a French market gardener and politician who represented the [1st constituency](/source/Haute-Loire's_1st_constituency) of [Haute-Loire](/source/Haute-Loire) in the [National Assembly](/source/National_Assembly_(France)) from [2017](/source/2017_French_legislative_election) to [2024](/source/2024_French_legislative_election).[2][3][4] She is a member of [The Republicans](/source/The_Republicans_(France)) (LR).

## Political career

Valentin was elected a member of the [Regional Council of Auvergne](/source/Regional_Council_of_Auvergne) in [2010](/source/2010_French_regional_elections) and of the [Regional Council of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes](/source/Regional_Council_of_Auvergne-Rh%C3%B4ne-Alpes) in [2015](/source/2015_French_regional_elections).

She was first elected to the [National Assembly](/source/National_Assembly_(France)) in the [2017 legislative election](/source/2017_French_legislative_election) in the [1st constituency](/source/Haute-Loire's_1st_constituency) of [Haute-Loire](/source/Haute-Loire), with 58.7% of the second-round vote.[5] In Parliament, Valentin was a member of the [Committee on Social Affairs](/source/Social_Affairs_Committee_(French_National_Assembly)).[1] She was reelected in the [2022 election](/source/2022_French_legislative_election) with 70.2% of the second-round vote.[6] She stood down at the [2024 election](/source/2024_French_legislative_election), when her seat was won by Regional Council President [Laurent Wauquiez](/source/Laurent_Wauquiez), her predecessor and [substitute](/source/Substitute_(elections)) in both 2017 and 2022.

She has also held a seat in the [Departmental Council of Haute-Loire](/source/Departmental_Council_of_Haute-Loire) for the [canton of Yssingeaux](/source/Canton_of_Yssingeaux) since [2021](/source/2021_French_departmental_elections).

## Political positions

In [The Republicans 2017 leadership election](/source/2017_The_Republicans_(France)_leadership_election), Valentin endorsed [Laurent Wauquiez](/source/Laurent_Wauquiez) for the party chairmanship.[7] In the run-up to The Republicans' 2022 convention, she supported [Éric Ciotti](/source/%C3%89ric_Ciotti) as new chairman.[8]
