***Invisible Opponent*** ([German](/source/German_language): ***Unsichtbare Gegner***) is a 1933 German-Austrian [drama film](/source/Drama_film) directed by [Rudolph Cartier](/source/Rudolph_Cartier) and starring [Gerda Maurus](/source/Gerda_Maurus), [Paul Hartmann](/source/Paul_Hartmann_(actor)), and [Oskar Homolka](/source/Oskar_Homolka). The film's sets were designed by the [art director](/source/Art_director) [Erwin Scharf](/source/Erwin_Scharf_(art_director)). The film was made at the [Sievering Studios](/source/Sievering_Studios) in [Vienna](/source/Vienna). The critics were not generally impressed with the film, with the *[Deutsche Allgemeine Zeitung](/source/Deutsche_Allgemeine_Zeitung)* describing it as an "unbelievable and unbelievably awful picture".[2]

A separate French-language version *[The Oil Sharks](/source/The_Oil_Sharks)* was also released.[3]

## Synopsis
