'''IntraHealth International''' is a [non-profit organization](/source/non-profit_organization) based in [Chapel Hill](/source/Chapel_Hill%2C_North_Carolina), [North Carolina](/source/North_Carolina), U.S.A. dedicated to working with [developing countries](/source/Developing_country) to improve their [public health](/source/public_health) capabilities. Originally established as a program of the [medical school](/source/medical_school) of the [University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill](/source/University_of_North_Carolina_at_Chapel_Hill) in 1979, IntraHealth became an independent [non-governmental organization](/source/non-governmental_organization) in 2003. The organization has worked in more than 50 countries, and is currently active in 28.

IntraHealth focuses on:

==Open Source==

Since 2005, IntraHealth has focused some of its efforts on Health-related [Open Source software](/source/Open_Source_software) and uses [Canonical's Launchpad](/source/Launchpad_(website)) to organize their efforts.<ref>{{Cite web|url=https://launchpad.net/~intrahealth+informatics|title = IntraHealth Informatics in Launchpad}}</ref>

Their primary software product is the iHRIS Suite — an open source solution for tracking and managing health care workers across a country. On February 11, 2009, IntraHealth launched their [IntraHealth Open](/source/IntraHealth_Open)<ref>{{Cite web |url=http://intrahealth.org/open/ |title=IntraHealth Open |access-date=2009-02-12 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20081120031553/http://www.intrahealth.org/open |archive-date=2008-11-20 |url-status=dead }}</ref> campaign with [Youssou N'Dour](/source/Youssou_N'Dour) with the release of his song "Wake Up (It's Africa Calling)" under [Creative Commons license](/source/Creative_Commons_license).  The campaign aims to bring open source health applications to Africa. The song was remixed by a variety of artists including [Nas](/source/Nas), [Peter Buck](/source/Peter_Buck) of [R.E.M.](/source/R.E.M.), and [Duncan Sheik](/source/Duncan_Sheik) to help raise money for the campaign.
