# International High-Rise Award

The **International High-Rise Award** (German: *Internationaler Hochhaus Preis*) is an international [award](/source/Award) in [architectural design](/source/Architectural_design). The award is bestowed to "a structure that combines exemplary sustainability, external shape and internal spatial quality, not to mention social aspects, to create a model design."

Initiated in 2003 by the [City of Frankfurt](/source/Frankfurt), [German Architecture Museum](/source/German_Architecture_Museum) and [DekaBank](/source/DekaBank) it is granted in [Frankfurt am Main](/source/Frankfurt_am_Main) every two years.[1] The prize, a [statuette](/source/Statuette) by artist [Thomas Demand](/source/Thomas_Demand) and [EUR](/source/EUR) 50,000 is awarded to the planners and developers jointly.
