The **Intercontinental Cup** is a four-nation [football](/source/Association_football) tournament organised by the [All India Football Federation](/source/All_India_Football_Federation) (AIFF). It was launched as a replacement for the [Nehru Cup](/source/Nehru_Cup), with the first edition held as the [2018 Intercontinental Cup (India)](/source/2018_Intercontinental_Cup_(India)).[1] Naming rights of the tournament were purchased by the [Hero MotoCorp](/source/Hero_MotoCorp), which also sponsored the national team at that time.[2] On 7 January 2023, the AIFF confirmed that the Intercontinental Cup would become an annual competition as part of their "Vision 2047" initiative.[3] The first edition was won by [India](/source/India_national_football_team), while the next edition held in [2019](/source/2019_Intercontinental_Cup_(India)) was won by [North Korea](/source/North_Korea_national_football_team).[4][5][6]
