# InterPlane Griffon

The **InterPlane Griffon** is a single seat, high wing, single engine, [pusher configuration](/source/Pusher_configuration), [tricycle gear](/source/Tricycle_gear) ultralight aircraft, that was produced in [kit form](/source/Homebuilt_aircraft) from [InterPlane Aircraft](/source/InterPlane_Aircraft) of [Zbraslavice](/source/Zbraslavice), [Czech Republic](/source/Czech_Republic).[1][2][3]

## Development

The Griffon was the first design produced by InterPlane when they opened for business in 1992. The Griffon was designed for the requirements of the US [FAR 103 *Ultralight Vehicles*](/source/Ultralight_aircraft_(United_States)) category, including that category's maximum 254 lb (115 kg) empty weight.[1][2][3]

The Griffon airframe is constructed from [aluminum](/source/Aluminum) tubing, with the wings and tail covered with doped [aircraft fabric](/source/Aircraft_fabric). The wing is supported by a "V" [strut](/source/Strut) and utilizes [jury struts](/source/Jury_struts). It features a three tube tail that allows the pusher propeller to be located in between the tail booms. Standard features supplied included brakes, electric starting, [wheel pants](/source/Aircraft_fairing), elevator trim system and a plastic cockpit pod fairing with a windshield. The wings and tail surfaces can be folded for trailering or storage.[1][2]

Available engines included the 40 hp (30 kW) [Rotax 447](/source/Rotax_447) and the 50 hp (37 kW) [Rotax 503](/source/Rotax_503).[1][2]
