Innopolis was established on December&nbsp;24, 2012<ref name="Established">Resolution #2622-IV-GS</ref> as a [technology park](/source/technology_park) ("IT Village"). The change of the status from village to urban was granted to it on December&nbsp;16, 2014.<ref name="TownStatus">Law #115-ZRT</ref>
