**InfoLab21** is a research centre at [Lancaster University](/source/Lancaster_University) focusing primarily on information and communication technologies.[1] The centre was opened in 2005 by [Patricia Hewitt](/source/Patricia_Hewitt) in order to "transfer the knowledge, technology and innovation techniques that are strong within the university into the private sector."[2] The centre houses the University's [School of Computing and Communications](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=School_of_Computing_and_Communications,_Lancaster_University&action=edit&redlink=1)[1] and operates under the University's department of [Science and Technology](/source/Divisions_of_Lancaster_University#Science_and_Technology).[3]
