== History ==

InetSoft was co-founded in 1996 by siblings Larry and Luke Liang. Prior to founding InetSoft, Larry Liang, was involved in the early research of [e-commerce](/source/e-commerce) and interactive Web technologies and served as a research scientist at Bell Communications Research (now [Telcordia Technologies](/source/Telcordia_Technologies)), and held various technical positions at [Bell Labs](/source/Bell_Labs), [AT&T](/source/AT%26T), and [Lucent Technologies](/source/Lucent_Technologies).<ref name="InetSoft Management Team">[http://www.inetsoft.com/company/management/ InetSoft Management Team]</ref> Luke Liang worked for [Goldman Sachs](/source/Goldman_Sachs) in a variety of technology and management positions and held consulting positions with both [JP Morgan](/source/J.P._Morgan_%26_Co.), [Chase](/source/Chase_(bank)) and the [Union Bank of Switzerland](/source/Union_Bank_of_Switzerland).<ref name="InetSoft Management Team" /> Both hold master's degrees in [Computer Science](/source/Computer_Science).<ref name="InetSoft Management Team" />

The company began with four employees working out of a garage in Piscataway, New Jersey. It focused on developing an open standards [Java](/source/Java_(programming_language))-based platform that would be fully compatible with [Java](/source/Java_(programming_language))/[XML](/source/XML), [relational databases](/source/relational_databases), [internet technologies](/source/internet_technologies) and [legacy systems](/source/legacy_systems).<ref name="Company Background">[https://web.archive.org/web/20020210121546/http://www.inetsoft.com/cgi-bin/v6/index.pl?aboutus%2Fbackgrounder.html Company Background], Internet Archive, 2010-10-07.</ref> Its initial product was Style Report, which focused on reporting and [data analysis](/source/data_analysis). Style Report claims to have a small footprint, and has been used in client-side and server-side Java applications. Over the years, InetSoft's products evolved alongside Java to become server-based Web solutions. The product line has grown to include reporting, dashboards and visual analysis.
