# Indira Mount

**Indira Mount** is a [seabed](/source/Seabed) mountain in the [Antarctic Ocean](/source/Antarctic_Ocean) (also known as the [Southern Ocean](/source/Southern_Ocean)). It was discovered during the First Indian Expedition to Antarctica (1981–82) when the team was moving from [Mauritius](/source/Mauritius) to [Antarctica](/source/Antarctica).[1] It was named as Indira Mount after the former [Prime Minister of India](/source/Prime_Minister_of_India) Mrs [Indira Gandhi](/source/Indira_Gandhi) by the expedition members.
