# Inbal Dror

**Inbal Dror** (Hebrew: ענבל דרור; born 1976) is an Israeli [fashion designer](/source/Fashion_design) known for her contemporary wedding gowns. She launched her eponymously named *[couture](/source/Haute_couture)* brand in 2005 and her bridal label in 2014. She designed the wedding dress of [Ivanka Trump](/source/Ivanka_Trump) and has also designed gowns for [Beyoncé](/source/Beyonc%C3%A9), [Naomi Watts](/source/Naomi_Watts), and other celebrities.

## Early life and education

Dror was born in 1976 in [Ashdod](/source/Ashdod), Israel.[1][2] She is the eldest of three children.[3] She showed promise in her physics and mathematics studies in high school, but decided to pursue a career in art and design.[1] She applied to the [Shenkar College of Engineering and Design](/source/Shenkar_College_of_Engineering_and_Design) in [Ramat Gan](/source/Ramat_Gan) during her discharge from [army service](/source/Conscription_in_Israel), and after completing her studies there she went to [Milan](/source/Milan), Italy, to study at the fashion house of [Roberto Cavalli](/source/Roberto_Cavalli) for four years.[1][4] Upon her return to Israel, she began designing wedding gowns out of her parents' home.[1]

## Career

Dror set up a fashion house in Ashdod in 2004[3] and launched her *[couture](/source/Haute_couture)* "Inbal Dror" brand in 2005.[2] She opened a 250-square metre (2,700-square foot) bridal showroom in Tel Aviv in 2014.[3] A [diffusion line](/source/Diffusion_line) of street wear was added in 2017, and a diffusion line of bridal gowns in 2018.[5][6] Dror employs 270 workers in Israel and 35 employees in other parts of the world.[1] She sells out of her flagship store in Tel Aviv and in 75 boutiques internationally.[1] An Inbal Dror gown retails for $8,000 to $10,000.[7] Gowns for rental in Israel only are priced at 14,000 shekel on average.[3]

Inbal Dror gowns are known for their "racy silhouettes" and "revealing necklines".[7] They feature "attention-demanding details like sheer cup corsets, dramatic cut-outs and slits, and barely there silhouettes".[8] [Beyoncé](/source/Beyonc%C3%A9) wore a Dror wedding gown to the [2016 Grammy Awards](/source/58th_Annual_Grammy_Awards)[2][4][9] and also commissioned several ensembles with "Victorian and tribal influences" for her 2016 [The Formation World Tour](/source/The_Formation_World_Tour).[8][10] [Giuliana Rancic](/source/Giuliana_Rancic) wore an Inbal Dror pantsuit to the [2015 Grammy Awards](/source/57th_Annual_Grammy_Awards).[11] Other celebrities who have appeared in Inbal Dror gowns include [Naomi Watts](/source/Naomi_Watts), [Gala Gonzalez](/source/Gala_Gonzalez), [Rita](/source/Rita_(Israeli_singer)), [Kat Graham](/source/Kat_Graham), and [Bar Refaeli](/source/Bar_Refaeli).[1][2][5][12]

Celebrities who have been married in an Inbal Dror gown include [Karen Hauer](/source/Karen_Clifton),[13] [Lisalla Montenegro](/source/Lisalla_Montenegro),[14] and [Ivanka Trump](/source/Ivanka_Trump).[1] In December 2017, Dror received an official request from the [British royal family](/source/British_royal_family) to submit sketches for a wedding dress for [Meghan Markle](/source/Meghan,_Duchess_of_Sussex) in advance of Markle's [2018 marriage to Prince Harry](/source/Wedding_of_Prince_Harry_and_Meghan_Markle).[7][15]

An Inbal Dror wedding gown was chosen as one of the "10 Most Unconventional Bridal Looks from the Fall 2015 Collections" by *[Vogue](/source/Vogue_(magazine))*.[16]

## Personal life

While Dror is known for her gown designs, she does not wear dresses herself, but jeans and sneakers. Dror says she was married in jeans at a horse ranch.[1] She and her husband have two children.[1] She lives and works in Israel.[2]
