***In Search of the Edge*** is a Canadian short documentary film, directed by [Scott Barrie](/source/Scott_Barrie_(filmmaker)) and released in 1990.[1] Conceived in part as an educational film on [media literacy](/source/Media_literacy) and [critical thinking](/source/Critical_thinking) skills, the film is a [mockumentary](/source/Mockumentary) that aims to debunk [flat earth](/source/Modern_flat_Earth_beliefs) theory by presenting it as if it were true, thus exposing its contradictions and absurdities.[1] It is based in part on the story of Andrea Barnes, a fictional scientist who purportedly disappeared in [Antarctica](/source/Antarctica) while searching for the edge of the earth, and is claimed by the film's participants to have fallen off the edge.[1]

The film received a [Genie Award](/source/Genie_Award) nomination for [Best Short Documentary](/source/Canadian_Screen_Award_for_Best_Short_Documentary) at the [12th Genie Awards](/source/12th_Genie_Awards) in 1991.[2]
