Image Works Industry Video game publisher Defunct 1992 (1992) Products Cadaver Speedball Bombuzal Xenon 2: Megablast

**Image Works** was a British [video game publisher](/source/Video_game_publisher) that served as a publishing label for [Mirrorsoft](/source/Mirrorsoft) between 1988 and 1992, when the parent company went bankrupt.

## History

The first two games published under the Image Works label were *[Fernandez Must Die](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Fernandez_Must_Die&action=edit&redlink=1)* and *[Foxx Fights Back](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Foxx_Fights_Back&action=edit&redlink=1)*.[1] Image Works notably became the European publisher for all the titles developed by [The Bitmap Brothers](/source/The_Bitmap_Brothers), starting with their second game *[Speedball](/source/Speedball_(video_game))*, until The Bitmap Brothers founded their own publishing brand [Renegade Software](/source/Renegade_Software). Over the course of its existence, Image Works also acquired the publishing rights to film adaptations from the *[Back to the Future](/source/Back_to_the_Future_(franchise))* and *[Predator](/source/Predator_(franchise))* franchises, as well as home computer ports of arcade and console games such as *[Passing Shot](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Passing_Shot&action=edit&redlink=1)*, *[Cisco Heat](/source/Cisco_Heat)* and the first two *[Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles](/source/Teenage_Mutant_Ninja_Turtles)* games by [Konami](/source/Konami): these ports and adaptations were consistently released on all the Western 8-bit and 16-bit computer systems supported by the publisher. Until the demise of [Mirrorsoft](/source/Mirrorsoft) in 1992, games were published on [ZX Spectrum](/source/ZX_Spectrum), [Amstrad CPC](/source/Amstrad_CPC), [Commodore 64](/source/Commodore_64), [Amiga](/source/Amiga), [Atari ST](/source/Atari_ST), and [MS-DOS](/source/MS-DOS) as well as other platforms such as the [MSX](/source/MSX) and [Master System](/source/Master_System).
