The **Iezer Mountains** ([Romanian](/source/Romanian_language): *Munții Iezer / Munții Iezer-Păpușa*) are a mountain range in the [Southern Carpathians](/source/Southern_Carpathians) in [Romania](/source/Romania). It is part of the [Făgăraș Mountains group](/source/F%C4%83g%C4%83ra%C8%99_Mountains_group). Its total area is 535 km2 (207 sq mi). Its highest elevation is 2,470 m (8,100 ft), at [Roșu Peak](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Ro%C8%99u_Peak&action=edit&redlink=1).[1]

## Location

The Iezer Mountains are located between the [Făgăraș Mountains](/source/F%C4%83g%C4%83ra%C8%99_Mountains) to the northwest and the [Piatra Craiului Mountains](/source/Piatra_Craiului_Mountains) to the east. The rivers [Dâmbovița](/source/D%C3%A2mbovi%C8%9Ba_(river)) and [Râul Târgului](/source/R%C3%A2ul_T%C3%A2rgului) take their source in the Iezer Mountains. The range lies completely within [Argeș County](/source/Arge%C8%99_County).
