# Ian Noble

**Ian Noble** (born 6 April 1972) is a Zimbabwean former [rugby union](/source/Rugby_union) and [rugby league](/source/Rugby_league) footballer who played in the 1990s and 2000s, and has [coached](/source/Coach_(sport)) [rugby union](/source/Rugby_union) in the 2010s.

## Background

Ian Noble was born in [Bulawayo](/source/Bulawayo), Rhodesia

Noble represented [Zimbabwe](/source/Zimbabwe_national_rugby_union_team) at the [1991 Rugby Union World Cup](/source/1991_Rugby_World_Cup) and [South Africa](/source/South_Africa_national_rugby_league_team) in the [2000 Rugby League World Cup](/source/2000_Rugby_League_World_Cup). As of 2010, he is the head coach of [Irvine RFC](/source/Irvine_RFC).

## Playing career

Noble originally played [rugby union](/source/Rugby_union) for [Zimbabwe](/source/Zimbabwe_national_rugby_union_team). Attending the [1991 Rugby World Cup](/source/1991_Rugby_World_Cup) and playing 7 matches between 1993 and 1996, scoring 66 points.[2]

When he was in South Africa playing for Mpumalanga, Noble changed codes and played [rugby league](/source/Rugby_league) for [South Africa](/source/South_Africa_national_rugby_league_team) in the [2000 Rugby League World Cup](/source/2000_Rugby_League_World_Cup).[1]

Noble then moved to Britain and played for several clubs, including the [Glasgow Hawks](/source/Glasgow_Hawks).

He later became a coach. In 2010, he was appointed head coach of [Irvine RFC](/source/Irvine_RFC).[3]
