Currently no ISO 3166-2 codes are defined in the entry for the Åland Islands.

Åland, an autonomous [region](/source/Regions_of_Finland) of [Finland](/source/Finland) (also a former [province](/source/Provinces_of_Finland)), is officially assigned the [ISO 3166-1 alpha-2](/source/ISO_3166-1_alpha-2) code AX since 2004 *(see [ISO 3166-1 Newsletter V-9](/source/ISO_3166-1#V-9))*.[1] Moreover, it is also assigned the ISO 3166-2 code FI-01 under the [entry for Finland](/source/ISO_3166-2:FI).[2]
