==Name==
''ICv2'' stands for '''''Internal Correspondence'' version 2''', named after a trade magazine published in the 1980s-1990s by [Capital City Distribution](/source/Capital_City_Distribution).

== History ==
[Capital City Distribution](/source/Capital_City_Distribution) co-founder [Milton Griepp](/source/Milton_Griepp) published ''Internal Correspondence'', first as a newsletter and then as a magazine, until Capital City was acquired by [Diamond Comic Distributors](/source/Diamond_Comic_Distributors) in 1996, retaining rights to the name. He launched ''ICv2'' in January 2001. The ''ICv2 Retailer Guides'' magazines were launched in 2002.

In 2011,<ref>Reid, Calvin. Griepp (on behalf of ''ICv2'') supervised the 2015 [American Anime Awards](/source/American_Anime_Awards) balloting.

''ICv2: The Business of Pop Culture,'' edited by Griepp, was nominated for the "Best Comics-Related Periodical/Journalism" [Eisner Award](/source/Eisner_Awards) in 2025.<ref>{{Cite web |last=MacDonald |first=Heidi |author-link=Heidi MacDonald |date=May 15, 2025 |title=2024 Eisner nominations announced, led by Fantagraphics and Tom King |url=https://www.comicsbeat.com/2024-eisner-nominations-announced-led-by-fantagraphics-and-tom-king/ |access-date=May 15, 2025 |website=The Beat |language=en-US}}</ref> In July 2025, ''ICv2'' announced they had "transitioned to a fully remote company after occupying offices in Madison, Wisconsin for its first 24 years".<ref>{{Cite web |last=Griepp |first=Milton |author-link=Milton Griepp |date=July 9, 2025 |title=ICv2 Has Moved! |url=https://icv2.com/articles/news/view/59988/icv2-has-moved |access-date=July 9, 2025 |website=ICv2 |language=en}}</ref>
