It was released by [Columbia Records](/source/Columbia_Records) on May 7, 2012. An [indie rock](/source/Indie_rock) EP, it was produced by Emile Haynie and Justyn Pilbrow, and was supported by two singles: "Female Robbery" and "[Sweater Weather](/source/Sweater_Weather)". *I'm Sorry...* received generally positive reviews from music critics, who believed the band to have potential, although some felt it lacked a standout, defining moment. The song "Sweater Weather" experienced a resurgence in popularity in mid-to-late 2020 due to its use on the social media platform [TikTok](/source/TikTok). ## Background and promotion The Neighbourhood was formed in August 2011 by the singer [Jesse Rutherford](/source/Jesse_Rutherford_(singer)), guitarists Zachary Abels and Jeremiah Freedman, bassist Michael Margott, and drummer Bryan "Olivver" Sammis.[2] The members of the Neighbourhood chose the [British spelling](/source/American_and_British_English_spelling_differences) of "neighbourhood" on the advice of their manager, to distinguish themselves from a band already using the American spelling.[3] *I'm Sorry...'*s first single, "Female Robbery", was released on October 8, 2012.[4] Its second and final single, "Sweater Weather", was sent to [modern rock](/source/Modern_rock) radio on December 3, 2012.[5] ## Critical reception *I'm Sorry...* received generally positive reviews from music critics.
