For the village in ancient Boeotia, see [Hyettus (Boeotia)](/source/Hyettus_(Boeotia)).

In [Greek mythology](/source/Greek_mythology), **Hyettus** (Ancient Greek: Ὕηττος - *Hyettos*) was a native of [Argos](/source/Ancient_Argos) thought to have been the first man ever to have exacted vengeance over adultery: he reputedly killed [Molurus](/source/Molurus), whom he had caught with his wife, and was sent into exile. King [Orchomenus](/source/Orchomenus_(mythology)) of [Boeotia](/source/Boeotia) received him hospitably and assigned to him some land, where the village [Hyettus](/source/Hyettus_(Boeotia)) was subsequently founded and named after him.[1][2]
