'''Hushe''' ({{Langx|bft|ཧཱུཥེ|translit=Hūshe}}; {{langx|ur|{{unq|ہوشے}}}}) is the last village of the [Ghangche District](/source/Ghangche_District) of [Gilgit-Baltistan](/source/Gilgit-Baltistan), [Pakistan](/source/Pakistan).<ref>{{cite web|title=Hushe, Baltistan, Pakistan : Logistical Centers : SummitPost|url=https://www.summitpost.org/hushe-baltistan-pakistan/707965|access-date=2020-04-17|archive-date=2021-05-17|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20210517133909/https://www.summitpost.org/hushe-baltistan-pakistan/707965|url-status=live}}</ref> It is the highest village in the once extremely remote and impoverished [Hushe Valley](/source/Hushe_Valley).

== History ==
Hushe men began working as cooks and porters for mountaineering expeditions in the 1960s. Hushe is no longer the poorest of villages, as its popularity as a trekking and climbing destination continues to grow. Climbers and trekkers come all the way from [Baltoro Glacier](/source/Baltoro_Glacier), [Concordia](/source/Concordia_(Pakistan)) and [K2](/source/K2) via [Gondogoro Pass](/source/Gondogoro_Pass), descend into Hushe village to reach [Skardu District](/source/Skardu_District).<ref>{{Cite book |last=Webb |first=Timothy William |url=https://books.google.com/books?id=djv54ABamKgC&q=%22Hushe%22 |title=Valuing the Invaluable Ecotourism: Natives, Conservationists and Developers |date=1997 |publisher=University of California, Davis |language=en}}</ref><ref>{{Cite book |last1=King |first1=John |url=https://books.google.com/books?id=pwEwAQAAIAAJ&q=%22Hushe%22 |title=Karakoram Highway |last2=Mayhew |first2=Bradley |date=1998 |publisher=Lonely Planet |isbn=978-0-86442-531-7 |language=en}}</ref> Access to the [Gasherbrums](/source/Gasherbrums) peaks is also possible going north up through [Hushe Valley](/source/Hushe_Valley).
