'''Hunsonby''' is a village and [civil parish](/source/civil_parishes_in_England) in the [Westmorland and Furness](/source/Westmorland_and_Furness) district of [Cumbria](/source/Cumbria), England, {{convert|7|mi|km}} north east of [Penrith](/source/Penrith%2C_Cumbria). The parish is located {{convert|28|mi}} south east of the city of [Carlisle](/source/Carlisle%2C_Cumbria). Within the parish is the ancient [stone circle](/source/stone_circle) of [Long Meg and Her Daughters](/source/Long_Meg_and_Her_Daughters) but not the nearby standing stone of [Little Meg](/source/Little_Meg) which is located near [Langwathby](/source/Langwathby). In 2011 the Census reported the parish to have a total population of 388.<ref name="NOMIS"/>

In 1870–72, [John Marius Wilson](/source/John_Marius_Wilson)'s ''[Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales](/source/Imperial_Gazetteer_of_England_and_Wales)'' described Hunsonby (and Winskill) as:
