# Huitang

**Huitang** (simplified Chinese: 灰汤镇) is a rural [town](/source/Towns_of_China) in [Ningxiang City](/source/Ningxiang), [Hunan Province](/source/Hunan), China. It is surrounded by [Fengmuqiao Township](/source/Fengmuqiao_Township) on the northwest, [Xieleqiao Town](/source/Xieleqiao) on the northeast, and [Jinsou Township](/source/Jinsou,_Xiangxiang) on the south. As of the 2015 census it had a population of 96,000 and an area of 210.9 square kilometres (81.4 sq mi).

## History

[Fengmuqiao township](/source/Fengmuqiao_Township) and [Xieleqiao town](/source/Xieleqiao) merged to Huitang town on November 19, 2015.[1]

## Geography

The [Wu River](/source/Wu_River_(Ningxiang)), a tributary of the [Wei River](/source/Wei_River_(Hunan)), flows through the town.[3]

Dongting Reservoir (simplified Chinese: 洞庭水库) is the largest reservoir and largest water body in the town.

## Attractions

Huitang Hot Spring (simplified Chinese: 灰汤温泉) and Peace Valley of Mount Dongwu (simplified Chinese: 东鹜山桃花谷) are scenic spots in the town.[3]
