# Hugo Seco

**Hugo André Rodrigues Seco** (born 17 June 1988) is a Portuguese professional [footballer](/source/Association_football) who plays as a [winger](/source/Winger_(association_football)) for [Campeonato de Portugal](/source/Campeonato_de_Portugal_(league)) club [Marialvas](/source/C.F._Os_Marialvas).

## Career

Born in [Lousã](/source/Lous%C3%A3), [Coimbra District](/source/Coimbra_District), Seco lived in [Coimbra](/source/Coimbra) until he was 9, when he moved back with his family to his birthplace. He represented three clubs as a youth after starting out at [futsal](/source/Futsal), finishing his development with [Académica de Coimbra](/source/Acad%C3%A9mica_de_Coimbra_(football)) by signing at age 16. He spent his first seven seasons as a senior in lower league or amateur football, including two with [Sport Benfica e Castelo Branco](/source/Sport_Benfica_e_Castelo_Branco) and one in the [Maltese First Division](/source/Maltese_First_Division) with the [St. Lawrence Spurs](/source/St._Lawrence_Spurs_F.C.).[2][3]

Seco returned to Académica on 4 July 2014, thus moving straight to the [Primeira Liga](/source/Primeira_Liga).[4] He made his debut in the competition on 10 January 2015, coming on as a 78th-minute [substitute](/source/Substitute_(association_football)) in a 2–2 home draw against [F.C. Paços de Ferreira](/source/F.C._Pa%C3%A7os_de_Ferreira).[5] He scored his first goal exactly one year later, closing the 2–1 win over [C.D. Tondela](/source/C.D._Tondela) also at the [Estádio Cidade de Coimbra](/source/Est%C3%A1dio_Cidade_de_Coimbra);[6] it would be his only in 49 competitive appearances.[7]

On 12 July 2016, after [suffering top-flight relegation](/source/2015%E2%80%9316_Primeira_Liga), Seco signed a one-year deal with [PFC Cherno More Varna](/source/PFC_Cherno_More_Varna).[8] On 31 January 2017, he left Bulgaria and returned to his homeland, joining [C.D. Feirense](/source/C.D._Feirense).[9]

Seco moved to [FC Irtysh Pavlodar](/source/FC_Irtysh_Pavlodar) of the [Kazakhstan Premier League](/source/Kazakhstan_Premier_League) on 23 July 2018,[10] leaving the club the following January by mutual consent.[11] and going on to spend parts of two seasons in the Hungarian [Nemzeti Bajnokság I](/source/Nemzeti_Bajnoks%C3%A1g_I) with [Kisvárda FC](/source/Kisv%C3%A1rda_FC).[12]
