As of 2010 two creation are extant, one extinct and one sold. The **Hope Baronetcy**, of [Craighall](/source/Craighall_Castle) in the County of Fife, created in the Baronetage of Nova Scotia on 19 February 1628 for [Thomas Hope](/source/Sir_Thomas_Hope,_1st_Baronet), the Scottish [advocate](/source/Advocate) and advisor to [Charles I](/source/Charles_I_of_England).[1][2] The sixth Baronet assumed the additional surname of Bruce, a surname also held by the seventh Baronet. The latter sat as [Member of Parliament](/source/Member_of_Parliament) for [Kinross](/source/Kinross-shire_(UK_Parliament_constituency)). The eleventh Baronet was [Conservative](/source/Conservative_Party_(UK)) Member of Parliament for [Midlothian](/source/Midlothian_(UK_Parliament_constituency)). The sixteenth Baronet sat as Member of Parliament for Midlothian and [Midlothian and Peebles North](/source/Midlothian_and_Peebles_Northern_(UK_Parliament_constituency)). The present Baronet is [Chief](/source/Clan_chief) of [Clan Hope](/source/Clan_Hope). [Charles Hope, 1st Earl of Hopetoun](/source/Charles_Hope,_1st_Earl_of_Hopetoun), ancestor of the [Marquesses of Linlithgow](/source/Marquess_of_Linlithgow), was the grandson of Sir James Hope, sixth son the first Baronet of Craighall. [Sir Archibald Hope](/source/Archibald_Hope,_Lord_Rankeillor), second son of the second Baronet, was a [Lord of Session](/source/Lord_of_Session) as Lord Rankeillour. His grandson [John Hope](/source/John_Hope_(botanist)) was a surgeon and botanist. John Edward Hope, great-grandson of Captain Robert Hope, grandson of Sir Archibald Hope, Lord Rankeillour, was a [Major-General](/source/Major-General) in the [British Army](/source/British_Army). Archibald Hugh Hope, son of [Hugh Hope](/source/Hugh_Hope), fourth son of the ninth Baronet, was a [Major-General](/source/Major-General) in the [British Army](/source/British_Army).[3] The **Hope Baronetcy**, of Kerse in the County of Stirling, was created in the Baronetage of Nova Scotia on 30 May 1672 for Alexander Hope.[2] The fourth baronet sold his noble inheritance to [Sir Lawrence Dundas, 1st Baronet](/source/Sir_Lawrence_Dundas,_1st_Baronet).[4] The **Hope Baronetcy**, of Kirkliston, was created in the Baronetage of Nova Scotia on 1 March 1698 for William Hope.[2] The title became dormant on the death of the third Baronet in 1763. According to some sources [John Hope, 2nd Earl of Hopetoun](/source/John_Hope,_2nd_Earl_of_Hopetoun), succeeded to the title.[1] The **Hope Baronetcy**, of Kinnettles in the County of Angus, was created in the [Baronetage of the United Kingdom](/source/Baronetage_of_the_United_Kingdom) on 13 January 1932 for the Scottish [Unionist](/source/Unionist_Party_(Scotland)) politician [Harry Hope](/source/Sir_Harry_Hope,_1st_Baronet). The presumed third Baronet never successfully proved his succession and was never on the [Official Roll of the Baronetage](/source/Official_Roll_of_the_Baronetage).
