==Career==
The project had its origins in the 1997 album ''[Skyscraping](/source/Skyscraping)'' by [ABC](/source/ABC_(band)). As ABC was essentially [Martin Fry](/source/Martin_Fry), after the departure of founding member [Mark White](/source/Mark_White_(British_musician)), Lowndes and fellow [Sheffield](/source/Sheffield) native Gregory of [Heaven 17](/source/Heaven_17), were brought in for co-songwriting duties on the album.

Lowndes and Gregory's first album, ''Sound Echo Location'', was released in the UK and Australia in 2003 and in the US in 2004.<ref name="AMG"/>

Honeyroot reached the [UK Singles Chart](/source/UK_Singles_Chart) in May 2005 with their ambient [cover version](/source/cover_version) of the [Joy Division](/source/Joy_Division) song "[Love Will Tear Us Apart](/source/Love_Will_Tear_Us_Apart)",<ref name="British Hit Singles & Albums"/> which also appeared in the Scottish film, ''[Red Road](/source/Red_Road_(film))''. 2006 saw an [online](/source/internet) only release entitled "EP1".

''The Sun Will Come'' (2007) featured two [singles](/source/single_(music)), the double [A-sided](/source/A-side_and_B-side) "Nobody Loves You (The Way I Do)" b/w "Heavy Drops" and "Where I Belong". Though known primarily as the front man for Heaven 17, Glenn Gregory sings on just two tracks on ''The Sun Will Come''; leaving remaining [vocal](/source/human_voice) duties to a variety of female singers including Briony Greenhill ("Nobody Loves You"),<ref name="BBC">{{cite web |first=Kate |last=Sharp |url=https://www.bbc.co.uk/music/reviews/2rmq/ |title=Zen-like and suffused with joy, this is no return to the 80s for Glenn Gregory and co. |publisher=BBC |access-date=22 December 2009}}</ref> [Kim Richey](/source/Kim_Richey), Kerry Shaw, Elsie Wooley and Lindsay Crisp.<ref name="AMG"/>
