'''Homolium''' or '''Homolion''' ({{langx|grc|Ὁμόλιον}}) or '''Homole''' (Ὁμόλη)<ref>{{Cite Stephanus|''s.v.'' Ὀμόλη}}</ref> was a town and [polis](/source/polis) (city-state)<ref name=Poleis>{{cite book|author= Mogens Herman Hansen & Thomas Heine Nielsen |title= An inventory of archaic and classical poleis|url= https://archive.org/details/inventoryarchaic00hans |url-access= limited |year= 2004|publisher= [Oxford University Press](/source/Oxford_University_Press)|location=New York|isbn= 0-19-814099-1|chapter= Thessaly and Adjacent Regions|pages= [https://archive.org/details/inventoryarchaic00hans/page/n734 718]-719}}</ref> of [Magnesia](/source/ancient_Magnesia) in [ancient Thessaly](/source/ancient_Thessaly), situated at the foot of Mount Homole, and near the edge of the [vale of Tempe](/source/vale_of_Tempe). Mt. Homole was the part of the chain of [Ossa](/source/Mount_Ossa_(Greece)) lying between Tempe and the modern village of [Karitsa](/source/Karitsa%2C_Larissa). Mt. Homole is sometimes used as synonymous with Ossa. It was celebrated as a favourite haunt of [Pan](/source/Pan_(mythology)), and as the abode of the [Centaurs](/source/Centaurs) and the [Lapithae](/source/Lapithae).<ref>[Eurip.](/source/Euripides) ''Here. Fur.'' 371; Theocr. ''Idyll.'' 7.104; {{Cite Aeneid|7.675}}</ref> [Pausanias](/source/Pausanias_(geographer)) describes it as the most fertile mountain in Thessaly, and well supplied with fountains.<ref>{{Cite Pausanias|9|8|6}}</ref>

Ancient authors differed in their descriptions of the town's location. Both [Pseudo-Scylax](/source/Pseudo-Scylax) and [Strabo](/source/Strabo) seem to place it on the right bank of the [Peneius](/source/Pineios_(Thessaly)) near the exit of the vale of Tempe, and consequently at some distance from the sea;<ref>''[Periplus of Pseudo-Scylax](/source/Periplus_of_Pseudo-Scylax)'', p. 12</ref><ref>{{Cite Strabo|ix. p.445}}</ref> but in [Apollonius Rhodius](/source/Apollonius_Rhodius) and in the [Orphic](/source/Orpheus) poems Homolium is described as situated near the sea-shore, and in Apollonius even another town, [Eurymenae](/source/Eurymenae), is placed between Homolium and Tempe.<ref>{{Cite Apollonius|1.594}}</ref><ref>[Orpheus](/source/Orpheus), ''Argon.'' 460.</ref> Eurymenae, however, stood upon the coast more to the south.

Homolium minted coins dated to the [4th century BCE](/source/4th_century%26nbsp%3BBCE).<ref>[https://www.wildwinds.com/coins/greece/thessaly/homolion/i.html Coins from Homolium]</ref>

Homolium's site is at the modern village of [Laspochori](/source/Omolio), in the municipal unit of [Evrymenes](/source/Evrymenes%2C_Larissa).<ref>{{Barrington Atlas|page=55}}</ref><ref>{{Cite DARE|29357}}</ref>
