Area of Halifax, West Yorkshire, England

**Holmfield** is an area of [Halifax](/source/Halifax%2C_West_Yorkshire) in [West Yorkshire](/source/West_Yorkshire), England, 2 miles (3.2 km) north of the town centre.

Early maps show no village in the area.[1] Holmfield was developed in the 19th century after a mill, known as Holme Field Mill, was built on Strines Beck[2] in the [township](/source/Township_(England)) of [Ovenden](/source/Ovenden), in the [ancient parish](/source/Ancient_parish) of Halifax in the [West Riding of Yorkshire](/source/West_Riding_of_Yorkshire). The mill was a short distance south of the village of [Holdsworth](/source/Holdsworth%2C_West_Yorkshire). In 1878 [Holmfield railway station](/source/Holmfield_railway_station) was opened to serve the area. St Andrew's Church was built in 1897.[3]

[Trinity Academy](/source/Trinity_Academy%2C_Halifax) is located in Holmfield.
