== Career ==
Minami started her career as a [staff nurse](/source/staff_nurse) and then moved to a faculty position. She was the first nurse appointed the [president](/source/Chancellor_(education)) of an independent public college, the [College of Nursing Art and Science, Hyogo](/source/College_of_Nursing_Art_and_Science%2C_Hyogo). She was a member of several committees and councils in the [Ministry of Health](/source/Ministry_of_Health_(Japan)) and the [Ministry of Education](/source/Ministry_of_Education_(Japan)) where she developed health and nursing education policies. She was the 25th president of the [International Council of Nurses](/source/International_Council_of_Nurses) from 2005 until 2009 and the [World Health Organization](/source/World_Health_Organization) Global Advisory Group on Nursing/Midwifery.
