# Hi Province

**Hi Province** (火国 or 肥国, *Hi no kuni*) was an [ancient province](/source/Old_provinces_of_Japan) of [Japan](/source/Japan), in the area of [Hizen](/source/Hizen_Province) and [Higo](/source/Higo_Province) provinces.[1] The ambit of this ancient entity is within [Nagasaki](/source/Nagasaki_Prefecture), [Saga](/source/Saga_Prefecture) and [Kumamoto](/source/Kumamoto_Prefecture) prefectures.[2] It was sometimes called **Hishū** (肥州).
