Email service

**HEY** is a [premium email](/source/Premium_email) service launched by [37signals](/source/37signals) in June 2020.[1][2][3][4]

## Service

The service may be accessed through the HEY website and through apps for macOS, Windows, Linux, Android and iOS.[5][6] Due to the service's [vertical integration](/source/Vertical_integration), a HEY [mailbox](/source/Email_box) cannot be incorporated into other email services or stand-alone [email clients](/source/Email_client).[7]

Around the time of HEY's launch, a stand-off between [37signals](/source/37signals) and [Apple Inc.](/source/Apple_Inc.) over Apple's policy on [in-app purchases](/source/Microtransaction) in apps hosted by its [App Store](/source/App_Store_(iOS)) was the cause of significant media attention upon Apple's policies.[8][9][10][11]

## Features

- An email from a new sender requires the user to confirm whether they wish to receive emails from that sender, and if not then emails from that sender are never shown again[6]

- Blocks [tracking pixels](/source/Tracking_pixel) (called a spy tracker in the apps) and informs the user if an email includes tracking[6]

- A single place showing all attachments that have been received, regardless of sender[6]
