==Life==
He was born on February 2, 1877, in [Allershausen](/source/Uslar), [Province of Hanover](/source/Province_of_Hanover), [Kingdom of Prussia](/source/Kingdom_of_Prussia). In 1896, he emigrated to the [United States](/source/United_States), and settled in [Brooklyn](/source/Brooklyn), [Kings County, New York](/source/Kings_County%2C_New_York). In November 1913, he was elected on the [Progressive](/source/Bull_Moose_Party) ticket, with [Republican](/source/Republican_Party_(United_States)) endorsement, to the [New York State Assembly](/source/New_York_State_Assembly) (Kings Co., 19th D.), defeating the incumbent Democrat [Jacob Schifferdecker](/source/Jacob_Schifferdecker). Scheidemann was a member of the [137th New York State Legislature](/source/137th_New_York_State_Legislature) in 1914. In November 1914, he ran on the Progressive ticket for re-election, but was defeated by Democrat [William A. Bacher](/source/William_A._Bacher).
