# Henry Mang

**Henry Philip Mang** (11 December 1897 – 30 March 1987) was a [Liberal party](/source/Liberal_Party_of_Canada) member of the [House of Commons of Canada](/source/House_of_Commons_of_Canada). He was born in [Edenwold, Northwest Territories](/source/Edenwold,_Saskatchewan), which is now in Saskatchewan.

Mang trained in Toronto at the Royal College of Dentistry at the [University of Toronto](/source/University_of_Toronto) where he also took a one-year honours course in Philosophy, English and History. He participated in [World War I](/source/World_War_I) under the [Royal Flying Corps](/source/Royal_Flying_Corps). Eventually, his jobs included farming and teaching and became a school principal.[1][2]

Between 1934 and 1938, Mang was a Liberal member of the [Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan](/source/Legislative_Assembly_of_Saskatchewan) for the [Lumsden riding](/source/Lumsden_(provincial_electoral_district)).[1][3]

He was first elected to Parliament at the [Qu'Appelle](/source/Regina%E2%80%94Qu'Appelle) riding in the [1953 general election](/source/1953_Canadian_federal_election) then after one term was defeated by [Alvin Hamilton](/source/Alvin_Hamilton) of the [Progressive Conservative party](/source/Progressive_Conservative_Party_of_Canada) in the [1957 election](/source/1957_Canadian_federal_election).
