**Henry Hutchison** (born 12 February 1997) is a professional [rugby union](/source/Rugby_union) player who represents [Australia](/source/Australia) in [rugby sevens](/source/Rugby_sevens). Born in [Sydney](/source/Sydney), [NSW](/source/NSW) and playing for [Randwick](/source/Randwick_DRUFC) at club level, he debuted for [Australia](/source/Australia) in December 2015.

## Rugby career

Hutchison grew up in [Sydney](/source/Sydney) and [Melbourne](/source/Melbourne). He attended [St Kevin's College, Melbourne](/source/St_Kevin's_College%2C_Melbourne) and later [Saint Ignatius' College, Riverview](/source/Saint_Ignatius'_College%2C_Riverview).[1] He joined the Australian Sevens program in August 2015 after impressing for his local club side [Randwick](/source/Randwick_DRUFC) in Sydney's [Shute Shield](/source/Shute_Shield) competition.

Hutchison was due to represent Australia at the [Commonwealth Youth Games](/source/Commonwealth_Youth_Games) in Samoa in September 2015 but such was the impression he made that he was promoted to the senior squad for the pre-season tour to [New Zealand](/source/New_Zealand). He was part of the 12-man squad that helped Australia qualify for the [2016 Summer Olympics](/source/2016_Summer_Olympics) in Rio at the Oceania Sevens in November 2015. He was also nominated rookie of the year in the [2015/16 World Rugby Sevens Series](/source/2015%E2%80%9316_World_Rugby_Sevens_Series).[*[citation needed](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)*] He competed at the [2016 Summer Olympics](/source/2016_Summer_Olympics).[2]

Hutchison was also a member of the Australian men's rugby seven's squad at the [Tokyo 2020 Olympics](/source/Tokyo_2020_Olympics). The team came third in their pool round and then lost to Fiji 19-nil in the quarterfinal.[3]

Representative honours include Australian Men's Sevens, Australian Under 20s and the Australian Schoolboys.[4] He competed for [Australia](/source/Australia_national_rugby_sevens_team) at the [2022 Rugby World Cup Sevens](/source/2022_Rugby_World_Cup_Sevens) in [Cape Town](/source/Cape_Town).[5][6]

He was named in the [Australian sevens team](/source/Australia_national_rugby_sevens_team) for the [2024 Summer Olympics](/source/2024_Summer_Olympics) in [Paris](/source/Paris).[7][8]
