==Family==
He was the second son of [Ivor Guest, 1st Baron Wimborne](/source/Ivor_Guest%2C_1st_Baron_Wimborne) and his wife [Lady Cornelia Henrietta Maria Spencer-Churchill](/source/Cornelia_Guest%2C_Baroness_Wimborne), an aunt of the future Prime Minister [Winston Churchill](/source/Winston_Churchill). His elder brother [Ivor Churchill Guest](/source/Ivor_Guest%2C_1st_Viscount_Wimborne) was one of the last [Lord-Lieutenants of Ireland](/source/Lord_Lieutenant_of_Ireland), and his younger brothers [Frederick Guest](/source/Frederick_Guest) and [Oscar Guest](/source/Oscar_Guest) were also members of parliament.
In 1911, he married the Honourable Frances Lyttelton (1885–1918), daughter of the [8th Viscount Cobham](/source/Charles_Lyttelton%2C_8th_Viscount_Cobham). ==Military career==
Guest obtained a commission in 3rd Battalion of the [Lancaster Fusiliers](/source/Lancashire_Fusiliers) in 1892, and in the [1st Royal Dragoons](/source/1st_Royal_Dragoons) in 1894. He served in the [Second Boer War](/source/Second_Boer_War), South Africa, 1899–1902 (despatches, Queen's medal 5 clasps, King's medal 2 clasps),['GUEST, Lt-Col Hon. His younger brother [Freddie](/source/Frederick_Guest) was elected as Liberal Member of Parliament (MP) for [East Dorset](/source/East_Dorset_(UK_Parliament_constituency)) at the [January 1910 general election](/source/January_1910_United_Kingdom_general_election), but was unseated after election irregularities by his constituency agent. However, he was defeated at the [1923 election](/source/1923_United_Kingdom_general_election), and stood aside in [1924](/source/1924_United_Kingdom_general_election) in favour of his brother Freddie.
