# Henry Angest

**Sir Henry Angest** (born 6 July 1940) is a Swiss-born London-based banker and political donor. He is the president of [Arbuthnot Latham](/source/Arbuthnot_Latham), a merchant bank in the [City of London](/source/City_of_London) and chairman and CEO of its parent, Arbuthnot Banking Group.

## Early life

Henry Angest was born in July 1940 in Switzerland.[1][2][3][4] He attended the [University of Basel](/source/University_of_Basel).[5]

## Career

Angest is the chairman and CEO of [Arbuthnot Latham](/source/Arbuthnot_Latham), a private bank in the [City of London](/source/City_of_London).[4]

Angest was on the board of directors of the Parity Group from 1997 to 2002.[6] He has served as Master of the [Worshipful Company of International Bankers](/source/Worshipful_Company_of_International_Bankers).[6]

## Political activity

Angest has made large donations to the [Conservative Party](/source/Conservative_Party_(UK)), where he was treasurer.[4] He has also donated to [William Hague](/source/William_Hague), [Chris Grayling](/source/Chris_Grayling), and [Murdo Fraser](/source/Murdo_Fraser).[2][7] He has been invited to private dinners with British Prime Minister [David Cameron](/source/David_Cameron) at [10 Downing Street](/source/10_Downing_Street) and [Chequers](/source/Chequers).[3]

He has made donations to [The Atlantic Bridge](/source/The_Atlantic_Bridge), [The Freedom Association](/source/The_Freedom_Association), and Global Britain, an anti-[European Union](/source/European_Union) think tank.[2]

In 2015, he was knighted in Queen's [Birthday Honours](/source/Birthday_Honours) List "for political services".[4] As a result, if he were to become a British citizen then he would be styled Sir Henry Angest.[4]

## Personal life

He is married to Dorothy Angest.[3] In 2010, he was worth an estimated £45 million.[2]
