**Help** were a 1970s [psychedelic](/source/Psychedelic_rock), [acid](/source/Acid_rock), [hard](/source/Hard_rock) rock [power trio](/source/Power_trio) from [California](/source/California).

The band comprised Jack Merrill (vocals, guitar, formerly of The Echos, [Candy Johnson](/source/Candy_Johnson) and the Exciters, Sumpin' Else, & Hot Chocolate), Bob Rochan (vocals, bass guitar, percussion, formerly of The Sentinels, Sumpin' Else, and Hot Chocolate), and [Chet McCracken](/source/Chet_McCracken) (vocals, drums, percussion, formerly of the Evergreen Blueshoes).[1][2]

They released two albums on [Decca Records](/source/Decca_Records) in 1970 and 1971.[3][4]

McCracken went on to drum with [The Doobie Brothers](/source/The_Doobie_Brothers).[2]
