The **Hellyer River** is a [perennial river](/source/Perennial_river) located in north western [Tasmania](/source/Tasmania), Australia.

The river flows for 61 kilometres (38 mi) before joining into the [Arthur River](/source/Arthur_River_(Tasmania)). High quality cool [temperate rainforest](/source/Temperate_rainforest) and tall [eucalyptus](/source/Eucalyptus) forest grows along much of the river. Significant species include [myrtle beech](/source/Myrtle_beech), [Leatherwood](/source/Eucryphia_lucida), [southern sassafras](/source/Atherosperma) and [messmate](/source/Eucalyptus_obliqua). The river in named in honour of the explorer [Henry Hellyer](/source/Henry_Hellyer).
