Helikon Opera gives 200 performances a year, primarily in Moscow but also abroad, performing in the UK for the first time in 1997. The company's repertoire includes both mainstream works and rarely performed operas and [chamber opera](/source/chamber_opera)s. In the past they have staged [Fleishman](/source/Veniamin_Fleishman)'s ''[Rothschild's Violin](/source/Rothschild's_Violin)'', [Hindemith](/source/Hindemith)'s ''[Hin und zurück](/source/Hin_und_zur%C3%BCck)'' and [Prokofiev](/source/Prokofiev)'s ''[Maddalena](/source/Maddalena_(opera))'' and were the first company to revive [Tchaikovsky](/source/Tchaikovsky)'s ''[Undine](/source/Undina_(Tchaikovsky))'' (1994) and to stage  Prokofiev's ''[The Ugly Duckling](/source/The_Ugly_Duckling_(Prokofiev))'' (1992).<ref>Stolyarenko, Lyudmila.
