The parish is centred {{convert|3|mi|km}} south-east of [Beaconsfield](/source/Beaconsfield) and {{convert|2.5|mi|km}} south-west of [Gerrards Cross](/source/Gerrards_Cross). ==Architecture and geography==
Situated in the foothills of the [Chiltern Hills](/source/Chiltern_Hills), Hedgerley is a [linear layout](/source/linear_settlement) of red-brick and timber-framed cottages, amongst which Victoria Cottages date from the 16th century.[Pevsner, 1973, page 160] It is bounded to the north by the [M40 motorway](/source/M40_motorway).
The old Quaker House on the northern edge of the village dates from 1487.
The [Church of England parish church](/source/Church_of_England_parish_church) of [Saint Mary the Virgin](/source/Saint_Mary_the_Virgin) was designed by the [Gothic Revival architect](/source/Gothic_Revival_architecture) [Benjamin Ferrey](/source/Benjamin_Ferrey) and built in 1852.[ The Tudor Revival [Rectory](/source/Rectory) was built in 1846.][
