**Heavy Trash** is an American [rockabilly](/source/Rockabilly) band based in [New York City](/source/New_York_City), formed by [Jon Spencer](/source/Jon_Spencer) of [The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion](/source/The_Jon_Spencer_Blues_Explosion) and [Matt Verta-Ray](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Matt_Verta-Ray&action=edit&redlink=1) (formerly of New York bands [Madder Rose](/source/Madder_Rose) and Speedball Baby).[1][2] The band's music draws from an eclectic mix of genres, including [rock & roll](/source/Rock_%26_roll), [rockabilly](/source/Rockabilly), [blues](/source/Blues), [alternative country](/source/Alternative_country), and [garage rock](/source/Garage_rock) or [garage punk](/source/Garage_punk_(fusion_genre)). They are currently signed to [Yep Roc Records](/source/Yep_Roc_Records),[3] [Bronzerat Records](/source/Bronzerat_Records) and [Crunchy Frog Records](/source/Crunchy_Frog_Records). They once toured together with the Canadian band [The Sadies](/source/The_Sadies), under the name of *Heavy Trash and The Sadies*.[4]
