# Hayden Hyde

**Hayden Hyde** (born 15 September 2000) is an English [rugby union](/source/Rugby_union) player who plays as a centre for [Harlequins](/source/Harlequin_F.C.) in the [Premiership](/source/Premiership_Rugby).[1][2]

## Club career

Hyde got his first taste of competitive club rugby as part of a highly successful age-group side at [KCS Old Boys Juniors](/source/KCS_Old_Boys_RFC)[3] playing alongside a number of other talented [Harlequins Academy](/source/Harlequin_F.C.), [London Irish Academy](/source/London_Irish) and [Wasps Academy](/source/Wasps_RFC) players. After finishing his education at [Cranleigh School](/source/Cranleigh_School) at 18, Hyde moved to [Ulster](/source/Ulster_Rugby). Playing for Ulster 'A' in the [Celtic Cup](/source/Celtic_Cup_(2018_rugby_union_tournament)),[4][5][6] including featuring in the final against [Leinster 'A'](/source/Leinster_Rugby).[7]

He rejoined [Harlequins](/source/Harlequin_F.C.) in 2021 going on to make his debut in the first round of the [2021-22 Premiership Rugby Cup](/source/2021-22_Premiership_Rugby_Cup) against [Saracens](/source/Saracens_F.C.). Coming off the bench in a 28–21 loss. He signed a new deal with Harlequins in February 2023.[8][9] He has also featured on loan for [London Scottish](/source/London_Scottish_F.C.) in the [RFU Championship](/source/RFU_Championship).

## International career

He qualifies for [Ireland](/source/Ireland_national_rugby_union_team) through his mother, who was born in [Tallaght](/source/Tallaght).[10] His first taste of international rugby came in 2017 when he was called up to the [Ireland U18](/source/Ireland_national_under-18_rugby_union_team) squad for a friendly against Portugal U18.[11] Hyde opening the scoring for the Irish side, with a try in the 9th minute in the 27–46 win.[12] In 2018 he started at centre in a 56–17 win over Canada U18 where he scored two tries. He featured for the [Ireland U18](/source/Ireland_national_under-18_rugby_union_team) side 5 times in total.[13][14][15][16][17]

He was named in the Irish squad for the [2018 Rugby Europe Under-18 Sevens Championship](/source/2018_Rugby_Europe_Under-18_Sevens_Championship).[18] With Ireland coming runners up, losing to France in the final. He featured once for Ireland U19 in a friendly against [Australia Schools](/source/Australian_Schoolboys_rugby_union_team).[19] While he was with Ireland U19 he was invited to join the England squad however he declined.[20]

He was named in the [Ireland under-20](/source/Ireland_national_under-20_rugby_union_team) squad for the [2020 Six Nations Under 20s Championship](/source/2020_Six_Nations_Under_20s_Championship), featuring twice, starting at inside centre against [Scotland U20](/source/Scotland_national_under-20_rugby_union_team) and [England U20](/source/England_national_under-20_rugby_union_team).[21][22]

In 2021 he joined [England Sevens](/source/England_national_rugby_sevens_team) and made his debut the following year at the [Malaga leg](/source/2022_Spain_Sevens) of the [World Sevens](/source/SVNS), and was later named in the England squad for the [2022 Commonwealth Games](/source/2022_Commonwealth_Games).[23]
