'''Havdrup''' is a small [railway town](/source/railway_town) straddling the boundary between [Solrød](/source/Solr%C3%B8d_Municipality) and [Roskilde](/source/Roskilde_Municipality) municipalities, some 30 km southwest of [Copenhagen](/source/Copenhagen), [Denmark](/source/Denmark). Havdrup station serves the [Little South](/source/Lille_Syd) railway line between [Roskilde](/source/Roskilde) and [Køge](/source/K%C3%B8ge). ==History==
The name Havdrup is first documented in 1265 as ''Havertorp''. The name is derived from the male name Havard and the suffix [-torp](/source/thorp).<ref name=Gyldendal>{{cite web|url=http://www.denstoredanske.dk/Danmarks_geografi_og_historie/Danmarks_geografi/Sj%C3%A6lland/Havdrup|title=Havdrup|publisher=Gyldendal|accessdate=21 January 2015|language=Danish}}</ref>

[Havdrup railway station](/source/Havdrup_railway_station) was built in 1870 as part of the new [Zealand South Line](/source/South_Line_(Denmark)) between Copenhagen and [Næstved](/source/N%C3%A6stved) as well as the ferries to [Falster](/source/Falster) at [Masnedø](/source/Masned%C3%B8). The location 3 km to the west of the village was selected so that the new station would also serve the [Risbyholm](/source/Risbyholm) estate.<ref name=Gyldendal/>
